It was a full room at the Scarborough Civic Centre last night for a public meeting on the route for the new subway extension.
Residents who’s homes are threatened by tunnelling turned out to voice their concerns, many saying they will fight expropriation of their homes.
The recommendation for the new subway extension is to tunnel east from Kennedy Station along Eglinton Avenue, north on Danforth Road to McCowan Road, ending north of Ellesmere with a new station to be located in the middle of the parking lot now at the southwest corner of the Scarborough Town Centre.
Earlier in the day, TTC CEO Andy Byford told reporters that “needing to expropriate the homes is not set in stone yet,” but the route seen by residents is the recommendation moving forward. He explained that “the TTC is trying to afford residents the courtesy of giving them as much notice as possible of what might happen.”
