The first one to officially enter the race for the federal PC leadership, Kellie Leitch is looking for a new campaign manager.
The Simcoe-Grey MP’s camp was dealt a blow with the weekend arrest of Nick Kouvalis on impaired driving charges.
The 40-year-old was charged following a crash Sunday near Windsor.
He says he’s been struggling with alcohol addiction since 2011 and had been hopeful with rehab and regularly attending AA meetings that he had things under control.
But Kouvalis says the arrest makes it clear he does not and has resigned from his role at the helm of Leitch’s campaign.
In a statement, she says she respects him for addressing the issue and wishes him and his family all the best.
Kouvalis was involved in the Toronto mayoral campaigns of both John Tory and Rob Ford and also helped the Harper Conservatives win a majority in 2011.
