OTTAWA SENDS $1M IN QUAKE RELIEF TO ECUADOR

The Trudeau government is starting to respond to the deadly weekend earthquake in Ecuador.

It’s sending $1-million for now, but International Aid Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau says more may follow.
Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan says DART, Canada’s Disaster Assistance Response Team, would be ready to go to Ecuador if asks.
A mother and her son from Quebec, are among the 350 who died in the magnitude 7.8 tremor -Jennifer Mawn, a neuropsychiatrist who founded a clinic working with children and teens in the Montreal area and her son Arthur Laflamme.

Mawn’s husband and the couple’s daughter were injured and are staying with friends.

Over 2,000 were injured.
President Rafael Correa fears the numbers will rise and says it’ll take ”billions” to rebuild.
