The family of former Toronto mayor Rob Ford says it will fully reimburse the city – for costs incurred while Ford’s body lay in repose at city hall last week.
A spokeswoman for the city had said earlier that the two days of public visitation cost $19 thousand dollars – which would be paid out of existing budgets.
But in a statement posted today on Twitter, Ford’s former chief of staff Dan Jacobs says the city will be paid back in full – even though the cost was far higher than an original estimate of under $1 thousand dollars.
The city of Toronto says costs for the visitation include more than $11 thousand-500 dollars for security – and nearly $45 hundred in overtime costs for staffing.
