Ottawa has laid out criteria for all new resource projects – including the need for decisions based on science- and input from indigenous communities.

The revised policy from the federal government  will apply to the proposed TransMountain oil pipeline in British Columbia Рas well as the Energy East pipeline.

The hearings on Kinder Morgan’s TransMountain twinning project have almost finished – and the Trudeau government is extending the deadline for a decision by four months – moving it to next December.

Enbridge’s Energy East project will see its review period extended by an extra six months.

That means a decision on Energy East isn’t expected before the middle of 2018.
