Toronto East General Hospital is being renamed after a 13-year-old boy who was born there and died of a rare cancer at age 13.
Michael Garron’s dying wish in 1975 was that he wouldn’t be forgotten.
His parents Berna and Myron have made sure of that.
In one of the largest private donations ever to a hospital in Canada, the Garrons have announced a donation of $50-million to East General, which will be renamed the Michael Garron Hospital.
This is not the first major donation the family’s made to a Toronto hospital on their son’s behalf.
Five years ago, the Garrons donated $30-million to the Hospital for Sick Children and with the money established the Garron Family Cancer Centre.
