It’s going to be a busy day for the Toronto Transit Commission.
On the table at today’s meeting are a number of proposals including a slew of fare increase options, that might allow commissioners to balance the transit system’s books. At the moment, the TTC is facing a $53 million dollar budget shortfall. The most notable increase would see cash fares hiked by 25 cents.
The commission will also be looking at freezing the cost of a Metropass and voting on a measure that would allow the TTC to hold on to security footage for a longer period of time.
As it currently stands, buses and streetcars only retain video for a 15-hour time frame. Officials want that extended by 72 hours to allow riders more time to report incidents.
