While Justin Trudeau’s standing by his promise to bring 25,000 Syrian refugees here by year’s end, Saskatchewan’s premier wants Ottawa to put the brakes on it.
Brad Wall
In a letter to the prime minister, Brad Wall says he’s concerned about the fast-tracking of refugee claims.
Doing so he feels could severely undermine refugee screening.
The Saskatchewan premier says the attacks in Paris are a reminder of what can happen when even a small number of dangerous individuals make their way into a country.
Wall would like Trudeau to re-evaluate the 25,000 goal and how the federal government plans to achieve it.
He realizes the refugee plan was promised by the Liberals during the federal election, but Wall believes Canadians will understand if it’s put on hold in the interests of security.
