Voting ending at midnight on a tentative agreement reached back on November 2.
Under ETFO’s ”double majority” voting process, both union members and union locals must approve – 86% of the 78,000 members and 98% of union locals did.
The government has insisted all teachers deals are ”net zero” contracts, meaning any wage increases had to be offset by savings elsewhere.

President Sam Hammond says the teachers won improvements related to student learning conditions.
For example, school boards will avoid full-day kindergarten – Grade 1 split classrooms.
There’ll also be a review of full-day Kindergarten staffing and class sizes, while Grade 4 thru 8 class sizes will also be examined.
