A palliative care centre in Quebec may be one of the first to offer patients access to doctor-assisted death, once it becomes legal.

Doctors at La Maison Aube-Lumiere in Sherbrooke say they’ll provide the service – beginning February 1st.

That is just days before the Supreme Court ruling – that struck down the ban on physician assisted dying takes effect.

Medically assisted death becomes legal in Quebec next month – as a new provincial law comes in.

The centre says – while it initially refused to offer the service – it recently changed its position – after consultation with staff and volunteers.
