First, the Conservatives announced that Jerry Bance will not be running in the east Toronto riding of Scarborough Rouge Park.
This comes the day after a 2012 CBC undercover show about home repair companies, caught Bance urinating into a coffee cup while working an an appliance repairman, pouring it down the sink, then rising out the cup while the homeowner was in the next room.
Splash Bance
A statement from Bance, released by the Conservative campaign, says he ”deeply regrets” his actions that day and that the incident does not reflect who he is as a professional or person.
New Democrat Leader Tom Mulcair, who was in Toronto for the Labour Day parade, joked Bance must be someone who’s adept at Stephen Harper’s ”trickle down” theory of economics.
Bance had also been a Conservative candidate in 2006 and 2008.
Then the party said a man seen making prank calls in online videos including one where he pretends to have a mental disability is no longer a candidate.
Tim Dutaud
The Conservatives say Tim Dutaud is that person and will no longer be running in the riding of Toronto-Danforth.
This happened as Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who’s campaigning in the GTA Monday, promised to improve disability grants.
Asked what this says about the type of candidates the Conservatives are attracting, Harper replied, ”What this says is we keep the highest standard for candidates and these two individuals are no longer candidates.
The prime minister says they will soon announce new candidates for the two ridings.
