We’ll soon be paying more than TWICE as much to do a load in the dishwasher – or do some laundry – during peak electricity periods – than off-peak times.
Starting May first, the price for electricty during peak periods weekdays – 11am until 5 pm – will be 16-cents a kilowatt hour.
That compares with 8-cents for off-peak weekdays – from 7pm until 7am – and all day on weekends and holidays.
The mid-peak rate – of just over 12-cents a kilowatt hour – will apply weekdays from 7am to 11am and between 5 and 7pm.
The Ontario Energy Board figures the change will add close to 6-dollars to the average monthly residential electricity bill.
