Toronto and Banff are trading cultural executives.
The Toronto Star is reporting that Luminato CEO Janice Price is leaving to become head of the Banff Centre. That vacancy occurred when Jeff Melanson left Banff to return to Toronto and become CEO of the Toronto Symphony.
Price has been the CEO of Luminato since it began seven years ago. But Banff has five times the budget of the festival, and is looking to expand.
Meanwhile, there were reports earlier this year that Luminato’s long-term funding from the province was uncertain, and a reserve fund had been all-but-depleted.
Janice Price will head west in the Spring, leaving Luminato to find at least an interim CEO for next June’s festival.
