Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health are offering a new online tool to help people predict their heart risk and see how their lifestyles influence that risk. Researchers followed nearly 100-thousand people over 20 years to try to prevent development of risk factors in the first place. They then developed the online Healthy Heart Score to help otherwise healthy people and their doctors determine their long-term risk of developing cardiovascular disease. However, the participants in the study were healthy, educated and middle-class or above. As a result, the outcomes may not be widely applicable and the may need to tweaked based on the discoveries of future studies.
