Rob Ford is going in for his third round of chemotherapy on Monday.

Toronto’s mayor received bad news from his doctors at Mount Sinai hospital. The first two rounds of chemo were unsuccessful in shrinking the grapefruit-sized tumour in his abdomen. Ford is being treated for a rare liposarcoma. He also came down with pneumonia, which forced a delay in his treatment.

Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington has spoken with the mayor. He says he can’t believe how upbeat Ford is about his condition.

Meanwhile, the last trappings of the recent municipal election campaign have to be gone by today. Candidates had 72 hours to remove all campaign signs. Anything remaining will be taken down by the city and the candidate will be billed.

Some of the candidates are already on the hook for placing signs in locations banned by the city, or unwanted by residents. Doug Ford had almost 500 signs removed by city crews. The cost is $25 each. That works out to a total of almost $12,000 from the Ford campaign.

The mayor-elect might have his pay docked as well. City crews removed 119 illegally-placed John Tory signs. Olivia Chow had 95.
