Bagpipes played as members of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders regiment placed the flag-draped casket of Corporal Nathan Cirillo into a hearse early this afternoon before the motorcade began the sombre ride to his hometown.
Hundreds are lining the route that will take the fallen soldier’s hearse along the 401, 404, 407 into Hamilton.
They’re wearing red, holding Canadian flags.
The motorcade’s expected to arrive early evening.
Funeral arrangements have been announced for Cpl. Cirillo, who was gunned down Wednesday at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
Visitations will be held at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home Hamilton, Sunday 6pm-9pm and on Monday, 9am-9pm.
They’ll be open to the public.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 12pm at Christ’s Church Cathedral.
However, it’s not yet known if it’ll be open to the public.
