Doug Ford says he’s been endorsed by the most unlikely person. It’s his chief rival in the Toronto mayoral campaign. “My friend John Tory once told the Toronto Star,” Ford explained, “Doug is a smart button-down no nonsense business person. If you’re looking for a better run government, Doug Ford is the kind of person you would want. Smart, better run government. Finally the true story from Mr. Tory.”
Ford says he’s not interested in endorsements from politicians and lobbyists, saying it only means he’ll have to return the favour later, which means spending taxpayers’ money.
Meantime, the other two main candidates continue to court support from politicians and community leaders. Federal Transport Minister Lisa Raitt was in Toronto yesterday to lend her support to mayoral candidate John Tory. Former Green Party Leader Jim Harris plans to endorse John Tory today.
Toronto mayoral candidate Olivia Chow has received the endorsement of the Federal Green Party Leader. MP Elizabeth May held a news conference alongside Chow this morning to offer her support.
