In the most comprehensive Canadian survey ever done on the topic, a poll commissioned by the organization Dying With Dignity finds 84 % support assisted dying.
The survey of 2,500 also found:
— nine in ten (91%) agree a person should not be forced to endure drawn-out suffering and a similar proportion agree palliative care is not enough.
— eight in ten (85%) of those, who are severely physically disabled and unable to carry out basic daily activities without assistance, support assisted dying.
— eight in ten (85%) of health professionals, such as doctors, nurses and physiotherapists, also support it.
Zoomer Media’s Vision TV and CARP – A New Vision of Aging – will present a special episode of the Zoomer, dealing with medically-assisted dying, on Monday October 20 at 9 p.m.
