Actor Michael J. Fox’s foundation is suing a New Jersey research organization.

The foundation alleges that a freezer was left open – compromising scientific samples and harming research efforts the organization was funding.

The Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson’s Research has brought the lawsuit against the Coriell Institute For Medical Research, in Camden New Jersey.

Fox’s charity says it contracted with the company to store specimens for research into Parkinson’s disease.

The group says Coriell has been paid $3.5 million of the $4.3 million that was contracted for.

The suit alleges that in March, a door to a freezer was left open – causing many scientific samples to thaw – and rendering them useless for research.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
