The story of a 29-year-old dying woman in Oregon is gaining a lot of attention on social media.  In April, Brittany Maynard was given six months to live.  She’s planning to die on November 1st.

Shortly after Brittney got married she began having headaches and doctors found a malignant brain tumour.  Now she is fighting for the expansion of death-with-dignity laws in America.  Oregon has a law for medically assisted dying since 1997.  She plans to end her own life with medication prescribed by her doctor.

The most comprehensive poll to date on Canadians’ attitudes toward assisted dying will be released today.  The survey was commissioned by Dying with Dignity Canada and conducted by Ipsos Reid. It explores perceptions of assisted dying among the general public, the disability community, and regulated health care professionals.  It also includes demographic break-downs by province, age, religious affiliation, and frequency of church attendance.
