After a five year absence from the New York City skyline, the Rainbow Room has reopened in its historic perch atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza. After an extensive refurbishing, the room now features a new outdoor space, larger windows and the famous rotating dance floor which was refreshed by the grandson of the man who installed the original back in 1934. The Rainbow Room first opened 80 years ago and has hosted the likes of Cole Porter, Tommy Dorsey, Guy Lombardo and Tony Bennett. It was closed five years ago amid a landlord-tenant dispute. Two years ago, New York City granted landmark status to the iconic venue on the Rockefeller building’s 65th floor.
