Lisa MacLeod’s announced she’s going to try to lead the provincial Progressive Conservatives.

The Ottawa-area MPP, first elected in 2006, is the only party member who holds an urban riding in a major city.

After four straight landslides, she wants to steer the ship.

MacLeod will officially launch her campaign to succeed Tim Hudak October 19 at the National Arts Centre.

She says the speech will spell out her plans to ”restore my party and rebuild the province.”

Hudak

Hudak stepped down after the Tories lost the June election to the Liberals.

But she does not think the PCs are out of step with voters, ”We stand for the same things Ontarians value.  We just haven’t been talking about it.”

So far, the other contenders are MPPs Christine Elliott, Vic Fedeli and Monte McNaughton and Conservative MP Patrick Brown.

The vote will be held next May 3 and 7 and the results are to be released May 9.
