The Harper government has outlined its next step in the battle against terrorists in the Middle East.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s proposes to contribute military assets, ”including airstrike capability,” for up to six months.

The Conservatives’ motion also says the government will not deploy troops ”in ground combat operations”.

NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair raised the possibility of a prolonged war stemming from a deployment of fighter jets.

Justin Trudeau says his Liberals will vote against the motion next week.

But with a majority, the Tories plan will likely pass.
