Looking pale, sounding hoarse and barely able to keep his eyes open at times, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford showed up for work this afternoon.
Standing in front of his city hall office, with the glass wall behind him covered in get well cards, Ford said the cancer scare has been the ”worst event” that he’s ever encountered.
”A lot of the stuff that I’ve gone through, most of it’s been self-inflicted, but when you get hit by cancer, that’s not self-inflicted.”
The worst part’s been the effect this has had on his family.
Ford is set to return to hospital next week for his next round of chemotherapy.
”I’m trying to be optimistic .. right now I’m just trying to keep going, returning the phone calls, thanking the people for the support.”
