Another Canadian theatre is releasing an original cast recording of one of its productions. And this time, a Canadian musical is being digitally preserved.
The Charlottetown Festival is officially releasing the original cast recording to Evangeline tomorrow. Based on Longfellow’s epic poem of the Acadian Deportation, and written by Toronto’s Ted Dykstra, Evangeline premiered in Charlottetown last season starring Chilina Kennedy and incoming Charlottetown Artistic Director Adam Brazier. It is expected to become a regular feature at the festival on PEI, along side perennial favourite, Anne of Green Gables. Anne is being presented this summer for the 50th consecutive year.
Earlier this season. the Stratford Festival released its first cast recording of this year’s Gershwin musical, Crazy for You.
