Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard made history at Wimbledon today.
The 20-year-old from Quebec defeated Germany’s Angelique Kerber in straight sets to advance to the semi-final round. She’s the first Canadian to make it to the final four at Wimbledon since the “open” era.
Bouchard is seeded 13th. She will face Number Three seed Simona Halep in the semi-final.
Even if she doesn’t make it any further than that, based on her performance, Bouchard is expected to become the first Canadian woman to advance into the Top Ten rankings.
And she may not be the only player in the semi-finals carrying the Canadian flag. Thornhill’s Milos Raonic plays Australia’s Nick Kyrgios today for the right to advance to the final four.
