A force in India’s literary world for more than 60 years has died. Khushwant Singh was 99. His daughter says he passed at his New Delhi home. Singh was a Sikh who came to prominence after India was granted independence from Britain in 1947. He was a lawyer-turned-diplomat-turned-writer. Sing was editor of several literary and news magazines including the Literary weekly of India as well as two newspapers, the Hindustan Times and the National Herald through the 1970s and 80s.
