Mayor Rob Ford is back in Toronto after his appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show Monday night.
But the US late-night talk show host wasn’t finished mining the Mayor’s appearance for laughs.
On his show last night, Kimmel joked that he didn’t intend to upset Ford by bringing up his controversies. He said that Ford left in a hurry after the show and appeared angry. He said, “I asked him about drinking and smoking crack. What was I supposed to ask him about? His other hobbies?”
Kimmel also seized on Ford’s complaint that he didn’t have a chance to promote Toronto on the show. Kimmel used that to resurrect a tongue-in-cheek video from 2011 showing some of Toronto’s landmarks.
Many city councillors feel that Ford’s appearance made Toronto a laughing-stock in the US yet again. And mayoral challenger John Tory said Ford was out-and-out campaigning for re-election on the show, and should include the trip in his campaign expenses.
