An antique Stradivarius violin that was stolen from its owner at a London railway station has brought in $2.3 million at auction.
The instrument was grabbed outside Euston Station in November 2010 while South Korean musician Min-Jin Kym was getting a snack.
Police announced in July that they had recovered the instrument intact – with minor damage – at a property in central England. Three people have been convicted over the theft.
The violin was made in 1696 and is one of only around 400 surviving Stradivarius fiddles in the world. Kym decided to put it up for online auction in October.
Some of the proceeds will go to the authorities who helped find the rare violin.
