ONTARIO PREMIER TO MOVE AHEAD WITH CPP ENHANCEMENT WITHOUT OTTAWA

The Ontario government is ready to move ahead with reforming the Canada pension plan now that Federal finance minister, Jim Flaherty has said he won’t agree to enrich the plan at this time. Premier Kathleen Wynne hosted a meeting at queens park this morning and among the discussions was the question of whether retirement saving should be mandatory. Wynne has the support of several provincial finance ministers who have also been pushing for an enhancement to the CPP to provide a richer benefit to the generaton retiring 30 years down the road. Susan Eng is Vice President, Advocacy for CARP A New Vision of Aging. She says enhancing the CPP is an issue important to all Canadians and that the current debated has brought the issue to national attention .
