As pilgrims head to the Middle East to observe Christmas in Bethlehem – the place of Christ’s birth is experiencing a rare snow fall – with two to four inches expected.

A blustery storm is hitting parts of the Middle East for a second day and is expected to continue through at least tomorrow.

Meanwhile – Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity is wrapped in scaffolding, as the ancient building undergoes an urgent renovation.

Experts say water is leaking from the roof and threatening to cause serious damage to mosaics and other priceless items in the basilica which was built over the site where it is thought that Jesus was born.

Parts of the church are up to 15-hundred years old and the building has been neglected for decades, despite attracting millions of visitors each year.
