Thousands of police officers wearing their dress uniforms, dignitaries and civilians gathered in Toronto today to pay tribute to a police officer who died in a crash while responding to a call. Officers marched in a long procession to the memorial for Constable John Zivcic including members of the Toronto service, R-C-M-P, provincial police and many other services from the province and beyond. Toronto police Chief Bill Blair told those assembled today that Zivcic was well-suited to police work because of his exemplary work ethic and his abilities. Tom Zivcic delivered an emotional eulogy saying the family is thankful his brother could donate his heart and two kidneys to three other people. Premier Kathleen Wynne and Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair also spoke in praise of Zivcic at the memorial.
