Today marks the next chapter following the death of 18 year old Sammy Yatim on a TTC streetcar.  Toronto Police Constable James Forcillo is scheduled to appear for a judicial pretrial hearing at Toronto Old City Hall Court in a half hour from now.  Constable Forcillo is charged with second degree murder in the death of Yatim, who was armed with a knife while alone on the Dundas Streetcar on July 27th.  Cellphone videos taken by witnesses show Sammy Yatim being shot as many as 9 times.

Constable Forcillo has been free on bail since his first court appearance on August 20th.  As a condition of bail, the officer cannot leave the province without written permission from the Crown.  Forcillo is the second Toronto police officer to be charged with murder in the Province’s Special Investigation Unit’s 23 year history.
