Canada’s most famous, and longest-running, stage musical is getting the film treatment.
Toronto production company The Film Farm will bring Anne of Green Gables to the big screen in an adaptation by actress/playwright Kristen Thomas.
The production team will include Kelley Harron, the daughter of Don Harron, who created the musical with Norman and Elaine Campbell, and Mavor Moore. It has been presented every summer at the Charlottetown Festival since 1965. Next year will mark its 50th season.
The musical has also played on Broadway, in London’s West End, and has frequently toured Japan, where Anne is a big hit.
