The city  is  encouraging Torontonians  to look “Outside The Box.”

It’s a program  to beautify lowly traffic signal boxes – as Toronto  tries to reduce the impact of graffiti  vandalism.

Toronto has more than  2,200  traffic signal boxes and many of them are  covered with posters and graffiti.

The “Outside The Box” project  enlisted local artists to paint  20 of the signal boxes – and some will be wrapped in  anti-graffiti plastic coating  featuring brightly coloured graphics. 

The project was  organized by  Streetartoronto, a city  initiative promoting community pride.

The “Outside the Box” project  is part of the  Clean Toronto Together campaign.
