Medical advances are seeing us live longer.

In turn, more are getting dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Zoomer doctor Barry Greenberg is director of strategy at the Toronto Dementia Research Alliance – five memory clinics affiliated with the U of T hospitals and academic research.

The 57-year-old American born and bred Greenberg says if done right, the alliance has the potential to become one of the leading dementia research centres in North America.

Realistically, he sees no chance of a cure before 2025.

Today about 750-thousand Canadians suffer from dementia.

By 2030, the number’s expected to nearly double.
