There’s a report this morning that a member of Mayor Rob Ford’s staff suggested he might be able to get his hands on a video that allegedly shows the mayor smoking crack cocaine.
The Toronto Star says David Price told former Chief of Staff Mark Towhey he might be able to find the video. Towhey insisted the police be brought in.
Mark Towhey was fired by the Mayor last week.
David Price is a long-time Ford associate. He was Rob Ford’s football coach. And the Globe and Mail claims he was involved in a hashish-trafficking circle the paper says Doug Ford ran in the 1980s. Doug Ford denies those allegations.
Meanwhile, the website that first broke the story of the video says it has raised the $200,000 the owner of the video were demanding to make it public. But the editor of gawker.com says he doesn’t know if he will ever get the video because he’s been unable to contact whoever has it.
Star reporter Kevin Donovan also says he hasn’t heard from the video’s owner for a while. But he says in his experience with those involved it’s not unusual.
