More than 700-thousand people fracture their spine due to osteoporosis each year.
The International Osteoporosis Foundation says that’s double the number of people who experience hip fractures.
Doctor, Payam Moazzaz is a surgeon at Orthopedic Specialists of North County in Oceanside, California.
He says many spinal fractures go undiagnosed mistaken for a pulled muscle or written-off by patients as a symptom of old-age.
Doctor Moazzaz says Osteoporosis is the most widespread degenerative disease in the developed world.
He says without proper treatment common spinal fractures can be crippling.
