A blockade in eastern Ontario is delaying VIA trains between Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.

O-P-P  say the stoppage  east of Belleville has halted all rail traffic in both directions near Marysville  (about half a kilometre west of Shannonville Road.)

The blockade comes as many groups are taking part in a day of action to support First Nations people across Canada.

Elsewhere,  Transport trucks are backed up for about a kilometre at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor as several hundred people rally to show support for Canada’s First Nations.

In Toronto, about 100 First Nations protesters gathered outside the British consulate – playing drums, singing songs and chanting anti-Harper messages.

The protesters – many of them carrying home-made Idle No More signs – briefly shut down two lanes of Bay Street and later Yonge Street as they marched through the downtown area.
