The Art Gallery of Ontario is getting ready for the first Canadian showing of the works of Mexico’s most famous artists.
Frida and Diego: Passion, Politics, and Painting will showcase the works, and personal lives, of Frida Kahlo and her husband, Diego Rivera. It will feature 80 works by the couple, along with 60 photographs of their life together and their place in Mexico’s Revolutionary Culture in the 1920s and 1930s.
Kahlo’s life was given the big-screen treatment 10 years ago in the movie Frida, with Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina playing Frida and Diego.
The works have arrived at the AGO. They will go on display beginning October 20th.
