Team Toronto returns today after a two-day trade mission to Chicago.
Mayor Rob Ford pronounced the mission a complete success, as more than 60 Toronto politicians, businessmen, and city staff talked up our city to their Chicago counterparts.
Questions remain about how much the trip will cost the city. Mayor Ford said it wouldn’t cost taxpayers a cent, and promised he was paying his own way.
But the eight city councillors accompanying the mayor are charging the trip to their office budgets. And city staff who made the trip will also have their expenses covered from city coffers.
The highlight of the trip was the renewal of Toronto’s sister-city agreement with Chicago. It was signed by Mayor Ford and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel.
