One of the world’s oldest choirs is marking 800 years… of harmony.
Way back in 1723 when Johann Sebastian Bach joined the choir of the Church of St. Thomas in Leipzig the “Thomanerchor” had already been singing for 475 years.
And the boys choir is still going strong today.
The choir now includes 98 boys between the ages of 9-19, including a kindergarten day school for promising would-be singers between 3 and 6 years old.
THE 800th anniversary celebrations are continuing all year.
