Ontario’s Premier is downplaying expectations about his meeting with Toronto’s Mayor and Police Chief today.

Dalton McGuinty says there are no quick fixes for the problem of gun violence in the city.

Mayor Rob Ford called for the meeting after last Monday’s shootings at a community barbecue on Danzig Street in Scarborough.

Ford and McGuinty have differing views on solutions. McGuinty says long-term social programs are the answer to youth violence. Ford has dismissed those as “hug-a-thug” programs. He was the only member of City Council to vote against receiving federal funding for programs for troubled youth.
