One person may be dead, and several others are unaccounted for, after part of a roof collapsed at a Mall in Elliot Lake on the northern shore of Lake Huron on the weekend.
At least 22 people were injured in the collapse. Toronto’s Heavy Urban Search and Rescue team is on the scene assisting in the search for survivors. The area is still too unstable to allow crews to enter. They hope to have the area stabilized later this morning.
There’s no word yet on what may have caused the collapse. But one store owner at the mall says there have been problems with the roof leaking in the past, and several repairs have been necessary.
