More than 9,000 border agents and officers will not be taking job action after their union reached a tentative agreement with the Treasury Board.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada says the deal with the government was reached after working ”around the clock.”

The workers had been set to strike this Friday if a deal could not be reached.

Details of which will be released once PSAC has shared them with workers Thursday.

A ratification vote would then need to be held.

A similar strike three-years ago almost brought commercial traffic to a standstill at the border and caused major delays across Canada.
