The University of Toronto issued a trespass notice on Friday to those participating in an anti-Israel encampment that has been set up on campus for weeks, vowing to take “all necessary legal steps” if the protestors do not clear out by 8:00 a.m. Monday morning.

Ahead of the notice, the university presented an offer to the protestors on Thursday, with a 24-hour deadline, aimed at ending the weeks-long campus protest.

Organizers of the encampment have said that university administrators have agreed to meet with them on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. for continued negotiations.

On Friday, organizers called the university’s offer an ultimatum, that they said was issued with little time to respond under threat of the trespass notice.

The encampment was originally set up on May 2 to call on the university to cut its ties with Israel, but the University of Toronto has made it clear it will not end any partnerships with Israeli universities.
