The final report of the United Kingdom’s infected blood inquiry will be revealed on Monday, six years after the work began.
Over the years, the inquiry heard evidence as to how thousands of people contracted HIV or hepatitis from transfusions of tainted blood and blood products through the 1970s and 1980s.
Around 3,000 people are believed to have died as a result of being infected with the HIV virus and hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver.
It is expected that the report will excoriate big pharma, medical practitioners, civil servants, and politicians, paving the way to a massive compensation bill the British government will be under pressure to swiftly pay out.
Former British Prime Minister Theresa May started the inquiry in 2017, saying it was “an appalling tragedy which should simply never have happened.”
