Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the latest in a series of housing measures in Winnipeg, as part of the Liberals campaign-style pre-budget cross-country tour.
“The Canada Rental Protection Fund will aim to mobilize investments and financing from the charitable sector, private sector and other orders of government, in order to maximize the ability to acquire and protect affordable housing,” said Trudeau.
Earlier in the week, the prime minister promised $15-billion in additional funding to build more rental apartment buildings and $6-billion to build and fix infrastructure needed for home construction.
Expect to hear about these, and possibly other housing measures in the budget that will be unveiled April 16.
