How happy are Canadians?

Canada ranked 15th, two spots lower than last year on a newly released ranking to mark Internation Day of Happiness.

Finland has the world’s happiest people for the seventh year in a row, according to the World Happiness Report.

But for the first time in the 12-year history of the poll, the U-S is out of the top 20, falling to 23rd.

It’s marked by a major gap between older and younger Americans —  happiness scores from people under 30 were dramatically lower than those from people age 60 and older.

The report draws on global survey data from people in more than 140 countries. They’re ranked based on six key variables to help explain life evaluations: GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity and perceptions of corruption.
