It’ll take more than ”Faith” to get your hands on the new George Michael coin stamped by the Royal Mint.
It features a likeness of the 53-year-old singer in aviator-style sunglasses and stubble in the video of ”Faith.”
Michael, who died Christmas Day 2016, was a friend of Princess Diana and attended her funeral in 1997.
During his life, he attended parties at her London home, Kensington Palace.
A silver-coloured version of the coin starts at 15.50 pounds ($19.66) and climbs to 5,305 pounds ($6,728) for a limited edition 2-ounce (56 gram) gold coin.
George Michael Entertainment says it’s deeply honoured.
”He would have been enormously proud and genuinely touched that a national institution should have decided to pay tribute to his memory in this way,” it said in a statement.
The Mint has created commemorative coins previously for Elton John, David Bowie, the Rolling Stones and Queen.
